Lowest Bar Approval Rating Among the Current County Courts at Law

 

Every two years the Dallas Bar Association asks the attorneys who practice before each of the courts to rate the judges’ performances.  In the 2001 Bar Evaluation Poll, Judge Woody’s performance was evaluated as follows:

Only 60 percent of the attorneys who practice in County Court at Law Number Four approve of Judge Woody’s overall performance.  Put another way, a full 40 percent of the attorneys disapprove of his performance as Judge.  Also worthy of note are the facts that 39 percent of the attorneys do not think that Judge Woody demonstrates the proper judicial temperament and demeanor and that 40 percent of the attorneys do not think that Judge Woody correctly applies the law.

Judge Woody ranked last among the current County Court at Law judges.  The different between Judge Stokes and Judge Woody in approval of overall performance is quite striking:  82 percent vs. 60 percent.  Judge Stokes deals with the same types and volume of cases and was rated 22 points higher.
