Regardless of how the rates are calculated, Judge Woody has the worst reversal rate. Over a quarter of the cases appealed from Judge Woody’s Court were reversed by the Court of Appeals. Judge Woody has the unusual distinction of having more cases more reversed (25) than affirmed (18).
The difference between Judge Stokes and Judge Woody is quite striking: 8.33 percent vs. 28.41 percent. Judge Stokes deals with the same types and volume of cases, yet Judge Woody’s reversal rate is over three time Judge Stokes’ reversal rate.
