Committed to the Community
Using my legal skills to serve and benefit the community is an important priority at this point in my life.
I was honored as “Volunteer Attorney of the Year” by the Dallas Tenants Association in 1996. I currently serve on the Pro Bono Committee of the Dallas Bar Association. I am a former member of the board of directors of the Housing Crisis Center. I am a certified mediator and periodically donate my services as a mediator.
I recently represented a group of tenants in a class action suit against an out-of-state real estate investment trust. My co-counsel and I negotiated an extraordinary settlement that compensated the class members and resulted in substantial contributions to two very worthwhile charities: the Austin Street Centre and the Vogel Alcove. (See Robert Miller’s Column, “Homeless Advocates Hail 2 Dallas Lawyers”, Dallas Morning News, July 22, 2002, page D3).
